Happy Thoughts

On a happier note, it's been a week since my last paper.
Have never really stuck around for the holidays before, but my first experience of it is really turning out to be quite wonderful.

And I think I know exactly why -
It's the people I've been spending time with.
*smile smile*
I'm blessed with friends! :D

COSDU held her annual graduation mass today.
The music was, as usual, immaculate.
But the part where we prayed for the graduates was particularly beautiful.
Christine whipped up a tune for Sister's verse of blessings.
We sang that with our right hands raised in blessing as the graduates stood in front of us on the altar...
(I reckon) Anyone would have been touched.

If there's one thing about COSDU that hasn't changed, it's the ability for us to all come together to support and pray for one another, whether we know the individual or not.

So there are many components which help a community function.
I daresay I've discovered that one more component today.

Piss me off...

Here's something that struck me in the tram yesterday -

I don't drink but have no qualms on drinking and getting drunk and making a fool of oneself.
But going somewhere outside the bar alone when one is drunk is a different thing altogether.
Pek Sue, Jason, Edmond and I were catching the tram back from Crown on Thursday night when this drunk well dressed geek got on the tram. He tried to make conversation with Pek Sue, who politely answered his every question (curtly :D).
Then he didn't let Jason forget to notify him when we got on Swanston Street by asking him which street we were approaching between chanting litanies of the streets in Melbourne City.
He must have asked 'Which street is this?' at least 9 times between stops which were less than 150m apart.
And when Jason told him that it's not Swanston, he goes 'Tell me when we get to Swanston'.
ARGH!!!!

Edmond promptly ignored him.
I was fuming and bitching to myself about him...

Okay I know that was mean.
But... AAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

But really, it's one thing to be making a fool out of oneself, but a completely different thing when you're irritating somebody else... isn't it?

Exam Drama

My academic year of 2004 ended yesterday on an unspeakably bleak note.
I daresay the crazily difficult paper stunned the majority of us...

But the point is, MY ACADEMIC YEAR IS OVER!! :D

This period of examinations was particularly dramatic.
And I shall file my exam drama :D

8th November 2004 - Design
The question required us to show the mechanism in turnstiles, which were described to be 'the device which regulated human traffic, for example, in a sports stadium'.
Completely misunderstanding the question, a dear friend of mine wrote 'use arrow signs'.
Fabian laughed his head off for 2 blocks.
Admittedly, so did I.

10th November 2004 - Computational Mechanics
You know how the invigilators walk around checking our student cards against our attendence sheets, and then take the attendance sheet...
I put my tiny roundish eraser on my attendance sheet.
My particularly big and tall invigilator yanked the sheet off my desk and my eraser flew - onto the floor, bounced some distance away, rolled, continued rolling, and finally stopped about 2 rows away.
All that time, all I did was just to watch the big tall figure crouch and run after my little eraser.
It was a hilarious sight you should all have seen! :D

And there was more drama -
I went to the washroom halfway through the paper (cos I was bored and I didn't know how to do the stupid question).
This other babe and I were washing our hands when we suddenly heard a HUGE crash behind us.
We whirled around to see an extremely horrified third babe standing over the toilet bowl.
The grey plastic cover which prevents the toilet paper roll from falling off the wall lay cracked on the floor.
There was a huge mess of toilet paper on the floor, and the rest of the toilet roll was smack in the middle of the toilet bowl.
Our eyes met.
And somehow, the three of us burst into peals of hysterical laughter.
An army of invigilators rushed in and firmly reminded us that this was an exam.

Fortunately, we didn't get into trouble.
All three of us were doing different papers.

-----------------------------------------------

Well, these are my 3 notable exam episodes.
Other stuff include how I got scolded by this old woman for yanking the formula sheet off the back of my Math paper (although there really nothing wrong with that), how I tried not to kick myself in the first half of yesterday's paper, and trying even harder to kick myself in the second half of the paper.
:(

That about wraps up my exam drama...
Will keep ya updated :D

I love you.

touched by an angel

Most of us second year mechanical engineering students have a disgusting exam timetable.
Details aside, we've got Math on Wednesday and Thermo(fluids) on Thursday.

Ryan's special.
He doesn't have Math on Weds - so his next paper is Thermo on Thursday.

And Ryan said something profoundly touching today. He said, and I quote,
'I know you all have a very hectic timetable. I will try to finish studying fluids as fast as I can so that I can teach you all.'

How's that for friendship?
:P

I miss you all.

:D
Bet you couldn't read that.

It was in chinese when I wrote it anyway.

Maybe this will start the trend for us to blog in chinese.
Right PingZhi? And Bernice and ChangYi and Mandy?
Heeheehee.
ShuXian and PeiJun, I have complete faith that you both won't have any problems :D.

Thanks for the sms yesterday PingZhi.
Made me think of sec 4 the whole night and how I slept in every chinese class, how we all studied for the dratted Chinese paper, and finally how we all passed......

And I shall get back to work.
See ya all soon!

Since I last updated, ...

I've been trying to learn malay.
Sila ajar saya bahasa melayu?

I've noticed a trend - I only see a minute number of people during the exam period.
And these are the most wonderful people in my life.

Christine:
Been seeing her in my sleeping and waking moments, simply because I'm living with her (think what you want).

Diane:
Seems to be making dessert, folding clothes and chatting on the net everyday...
It's weird... but oh well.
STUDY WOMAN...

Justin:
Is going to help me get through my exams somehow.
His SMS this morning reads 'I will get back to you ASAP even if it means braving the rain and the cold'.
And he's been my Math teacher all week.

Ryan:
My source of answers :D

Daniel:
My partner in whine, partner in crime...
We whine about how little we know about our stuff to each other.
Of course we collude...
Of everybody, I feel like I can connect with Daniel the best, simply because we both seem not to know shit.
(How sweet of me to proclaim to the world that I can connect with Daniel)
Other half of the story is that Daniel and I are always arguing about other stuff.
Weird huh.

Nicholas:
Quacks at me whenever he sees me.
Quack!

Hmm... And I've developed a new mental disorder.
Jason deprivation...
:(
Lucky exams will eventually be over.
